CIGS has an extremely high light absorption. A CIGS absorber layer thickness of just one micron absorbs the sunlight almost completely (99 percent). The total thickness of a solar cell is only about 30 microns. This makes it thinner than a human hair.
The CIGS technology has the highest efficiency potential of all thin-film technologies. Record efficiencies of over 20 percent have already been reached in the laboratory. Due to the polycrystalline structure of CIGS the efficiency is extremely stable over a very long period.
Thanks to its flexible form factor, our CIGS solar cells can be applied to various surfaces, such as curved structures.
The excellent spectral response of the cell material contributes to higher average power outputs and the module performance is outstanding even under low light conditions. The continuous roll-to-roll production process has a significant cost reduction potential compared to conventional solar cells.
